Black Lava Stone cladding on a contemporary villa facade

Volcanic Stone

Black Lava Stone

Volcanic basalt with a deep charcoal character

Black Lava Stone is a volcanic stone from Indonesia, recognised by its dark charcoal to near-black colour and its naturally porous, open surface. It is specified where architects want weight and depth in a facade, a feature wall or a pool surround without relying on paint or pigmented finishes.

The material takes several surfaces well: honed for smoother interior work, natural for a raw volcanic texture, and bush-hammered where a more open, tactile face is wanted. Colour varies naturally between grey-black and deep charcoal.

Zeolite Factory cuts, finishes and export-packs Black Lava Stone alongside our green stone production, which makes mixed containers straightforward for projects using more than one Indonesian stone.

FAQ

Black Lava Stone — questions buyers ask

Can Black Lava Stone be used outdoors?

It is widely used for exterior cladding, paving and landscape work in Indonesia and in export projects. As with any porous natural stone, the sealing and installation system should be selected by your contractor for the local climate and exposure.

Are the pores in the surface a defect?

No. The open porosity is the defining characteristic of volcanic lava stone. The density of the pores varies between pieces, and we can sort towards a more open or a tighter surface if you specify a preference.

Do you supply corner pieces?

Yes. Mitred corners and L-shape units are produced to drawing for facade and cladding projects.

Is technical data available?

Technical data available upon request.
